A downloadable game

This game was originally submitted to the 2018 Reset64 4KB Craptastic Game Competition.

Gameplay

How far can you go on your PWC (personal watercraft), without hitting any rocks or reefs?

You start off slowly, but the speed automatically increases as you reach various distance milestones.

Controls

Use a joystick in port two.

Press and hold fire button when your PWC is in water to make it go downwards. Release fire button to make it go upwards and into the air, to avoid rocks and reefs.

How high in the air your PWC will go depends on its depth in the water when the fire button was released.

When you hit a rock or reef, press the fire button to return to the title screen.

Install instructions

The zip file contains a D64 disk image which can be launched in a Commodore 64 emulator such as VICE.

The Ultimax cartridge image file (CRT) may also be launched in VICE, and it should work with both C64 and MAX Machine models in that emulator.

A native build for the Commodore 128 is also available.

Thx for the Max Machine version.
How can it be played on real machine?

I guess you would have to acquire the required physical cartridge hardware, extract the ROM (8192 bytes) from the CRT file (e.g. using the 'cartconv' tool from the VICE emulator), and then "burn" the ROM file using an EPROM programmer. Probably not worth the effort for such a simple game, though.

Thanks for the reply.

I know it's complicated but it's something that I would be excited to try and see if it's possible.

Flash it in an Easyflash I guess it's not possible

There's a discussion in the Lemon64 forum about an issue with EasyFlash 3 and some older boards, including the MAX. I don't know if similar issues apply to e.g. Versa64Cart and Kung Fu Flash.

(1 edit)

it didn't catch me/10

Love the motor sounds !
