A downloadable game

This game has been submitted to the 2024 Reset64 4KB Craptastic Game Competition.

Gameplay

This is a drone racing game, in which you (the red drone) compete against two other drones (green and blue).

The race takes place in a large cavern, and you have to successfully fly through two flashing checkpoints before completing the race, or you will be disqualified (shown as DQ on the race results screen).

The starting position of each drone (top, middle, bottom) is random for each race.

You must complete the race within two minutes. Failure to do so will result in a DNF status (Did Not Finish).

The drones have propeller guards and are generally very robust, so they are able to continue flying after hitting a cavern wall. If two or more drones get close to each other, they will fly side by side and not collide.

The drones land automatically when they reach the finish area.

Controls

Use a joystick in port two. Push the joystick in the directions you want your drone to fly.

Press the fire button to return to the title screen from the race results screen.

PAL/NTSC compatibility

The game has been developed for and tested on PAL machines.

Install instructions

The zip file contains a D64 disk image which can be launched in a Commodore 64 emulator such as VICE.

Really  great job to fit the whole game in 4k!

Nice game, but maybe too hard to me. :) I also included it in my new "Gameplay of New C64 Games from September 2024" video as well as all the other recently released Commodore 64 games.

This is a fun game, many thanks!

Phenomeal game!

Really cool game and amazing to fit 4K as well. I wish you the best of luck in the Reset compo.

Thanks, Richard! Best of luck to you too! And I think it's very cool that we both are still creating these tiny C64 games, 20 years after the "MiniGame" compos!

Looks great!! - gotta try it :)

Very cool! Here's a video of one of my closer races, but it can only be played without sound. Gameplay is fun!

Cool!
